π€ Invited to Present FRAME-DS at the CaSDaR Hybrid Data Steward Conference 2026
Invited to present FRAME-DS: Framework for Recognising Applied Data Stewardship Within TRE Workforces at the CaSDaR Hybrid Data Steward Conference 2026 at The Midland, Manchester, on 17β18 November 2026. The conference brings together data stewards, researchers, research technical professionals, and research infrastructure leaders from across the UK to share best practice, showcase funded projects, and shape the future of data stewardship.

π Accepted PhD Offer at Edinburgh Napier University
Accepted an unconditional offer to undertake a PhD in Health and Social Care at Edinburgh Napier University, commencing in October 2026. The PhD is supported by an Edinburgh Napier University studentship. My research project, Using Nationally Representative Data to Understand the Nursing and Midwifery Professions in the United Kingdom, will use nationally representative data to investigate the nursing and midwifery professions in the UK and generate evidence to inform workforce research, policy, and planning. The PhD will be supervised by Professor Iain Atherton, Dr William L. Palmer, and Dr Martin Sharp.

Served as a panellist at the inaugural Global Talent Research & Academia Summit 2026, held at the University Park Campus, University of Nottingham on 11 July 2026. Presented FRAME-DS (Framework for Recognising Applied Data Stewardship Within TRE Workforces to the Secure Data Access Professionals (SDAP) community. The presentation introduced the project and explored how applied data stewardship can be recognised, supported, and strengthened across Trusted Research Environments (TREs) and Safe Havens.

Awarded Β£64,508.43 as Principal Investigator for FRAME-DS: Framework for Recognising Applied Data Stewardship Within TRE Workforces, one of four projects selected from 24 applications through the UKRI-funded CaSDaR Network+. Delivered collaboratively by Research Data Scotland and Electronic Data Research and Innovation Service (eDRIS) at Public Health Scotland, FRAME-DS focuses on recognising and strengthening applied data stewardship across Trusted Research Environments (TREs).

π€ Presented at the ADR UK Conference 2025
Presented Automating Low-Fidelity Synthetic Data Generation from Metadata: A Reproducible Approach Using R at the ADR UK Conference 2025. Also contributed to the conference poster ADRUK Ingest Improvement Task and Finish Group: Smoothing the Ingest of Data. Both abstracts were subsequently published in the International Journal of Population Data Science conference proceedings.

Successfully completed the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Safe Researcher Training and subsequently contributed to the delivery of training sessions supporting researchers working within Trusted Research Environments.
π Completed Privacy-Preserving Record Linkage Workshop
Participated in the Privacy-Preserving Record Linkage Workshop delivered by ADR Scotland on 3β4 June 2025 at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, University of Edinburgh. The two-day workshop covered the concepts, methods, limitations, and real-world applications of privacy-preserving record linkage (PPRL), including practical and research perspectives from experts in the field.

Completed a practical Version Control with Git and GitHub training session on 29 May 2025, covering version control principles, branching, merging, collaborative workflows, and open science practices. Completed the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced R for Health Data Research course delivered by Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) and led by Dr Ewan Carr, from 21 January to 11 February 2025. The course provided practical training in R for health data research, progressing from beginner to advanced techniques. Course materials.

π Completed Introduction to Administrative Data Research and Analysis (IADRA)
Completed the Introduction to Administrative Data Research and Analysis (IADRA) course delivered by ADR Scotland. The four-week programme combined expert-led lectures with practical R exercises using synthetic data from the Scottish Longitudinal Study (SLS), covering data provenance, record linkage, data quality, visualisation, and analysis of linked administrative data.

𧬠Completed Workshop on Synthetic Data and Synthpop
Participated in the Synthetic Data Workshop, led by Professor Gillian Raab on 5 September 2024. The hands-on workshop introduced the synthpop package in R and covered the creation of synthetic versions of confidential datasets, low- and high-fidelity synthetic data, and practical approaches to data confidentiality. The workshop strengthened my understanding of synthetic data generation and its responsible use in research environments, particularly for supporting data privacy, reproducibility, and safe access to sensitive data.

Joined Research Data Scotland as a Data Analyst, supporting the preparation, documentation, governance, and reuse of administrative datasets for research within Scotlandβs National Safe Haven. My work focuses on metadata, synthetic data, reproducible analytical pipelines, and research data infrastructure that support population and social science research.

π Completed Workshop on Efficient Large-Scale Data Processing in R
Participated in the workshop βProcessing Large-Scale Data Efficiently: An Introduction to the R Package data.tableβ, delivered by Dr Andreas Hoehn on 15 August 2024. The workshop covered efficient data manipulation, memory management, benchmarking, parallel processing, and practical techniques for working with large datasets in R. The training strengthened my use of data.table for high-performance data processing and helped improve the efficiency of analytical workflows involving large datasets. Joined the University of Edinburgh as a Health Data Analyst, developing reproducible R and SQL pipelines for linked NHS datasets and supporting research into patient outcomes and healthcare services. I also developed interactive dashboards and contributed to data governance, metadata standardisation, and research data management activities.

Graduated from Swansea University with an MSc in Health Data Science. The programme strengthened my interests in population data science, administrative data research, machine learning, and reproducible analytics. My dissertation applied machine learning methods to investigate the prediction of early-stage Alzheimerβs disease using the OASIS-3 dataset.
